Ryan House
Summer 2008 Update

We are honored to be the recipient for the fourth consecutive year of The Board of Visitors Care Card funds! Last year alone The Board of Visitors Care Card program added nearly $190,000 to our funding. We broke ground in April and expect to open our doors in 2009.

What is Ryan House?
It will be a respite/palliative care and hospice house for children who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition and who are being cared for at home. They may come to Ryan House from time to time, at no cost, and be cared for by medical professionals in the same manner as they are in their own homes. It will give their parents’ time to rest or take the other children on a vacation ~ precious time to themselves with no responsibilities.

Each family who qualifies may receive up to 28 free days of respite a year, and there will be no time limit on end-of-life care. Ryan House will be available to any of the 3,500 Arizona families whose children have a life-limiting condition.

We are the ONLY home of its kind in the United States – multigenerational with pediatric respite on the first floor and adult respite on the second. When our kids reach 17 they can opt to move upstairs for continuing respite care.

The Care Card program supports the pediatric floor. Both retailers and shoppers are making it happen! For that, we are forever grateful!

Thank you for participating in CARE CARD 2008 and “volunteering” for Ryan House again.
